Along with introducing its IDM 2.0 paradigm in 2021, which involves using both internal and external production capacities, Intel also outlined its impressive plan for 'five nodes in four years,' now dubbed '5N4Y.' The culmination of that impressive project is supposed to be the company's 18A (1.8nm-class) technology, which is scheduled to become production-ready in "early 2025." Little is known about the company's plans beyond 18A, but now it says it will reveal its new roadmap in February.

ASRock and MSI announced they now support higher capacity 64GB DDR5 RAMs on each DIMM slot, allowing up to 256GB on four-slot and 128GB on two-slot motherboards. ASRock also announced it can do the same.

A recent discovery that overclocking AMD's latest chips blows a fuse to denote the chip has been overclocked has led to slightly misleading claims that it will automatically void the chips' warranty for any type of failure. However, AMD clarified to Tom's Hardware that overclocking AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7000 (Storm Peak) and non-Pro lineup, among the best workstation CPUs, doesn't automatically void the processor’s warranty.

Intel's upcoming 5th Gen Xeon Emerald Rapids CPUs will see an announcement on December 14, and they're certainly being tested as hardware benchmark finder Benchleaks has found a couple of Geekbench 5 results. The leaked benchmarks for the Xeon Platinum 8551C and Xeon Platinum 8558P show remarkable gains in multi-core performance for a refresh of Sapphire Rapids with higher clock speeds.
